Ramón Salaverría (2019)

Ramón Salaverría, PhD in Communication, is Full Professor of Journalism in the School of Communication at University of Navarra, where he holds a teaching and research experience of 25 years. His research focuses on digital journalism and disinformation.

Author of over 300 scholarly publications, Salaverría is listed in the Stanford University ranking of the 2% most cited researchers in the world. In 2023, he won the ‘Researcher of the Year’ award at the Roblon Awards, which recognize excellence on media and communication research in Spanish-speaking countries.

He is currently principal investigator of IBERIFIER – Iberian Digital Media Research and Fact-Checking Hub, funded by the European Commission.

He was visiting researcher at the Digital Media Research Program in the University of Texas at Austin (USA), as well as guest professor at a dozen universities in several countries. He has chaired the Journalism Studies Section of ECREA (European Communication Research and Education Association), as well as the Committee of Experts on Increasing Resilience of Media (MSI-RES) at the Council of Europe. He has delivered keynotes and workshops in more than 30 countries.
